Since 2002 he has been involved in numerous workshops such as Paper Prayers at Artist Proof Studio, Papermaking courses, the World Summit on sustainable Development and the Uthingo collaboration with the Craft Council involving packaging. He is presently Co-ordinator and facilitator of the professional art at the Artist Proof Studio. He has been involved in teaching paper making since 1994.

Phillemon has completed and facilitated many wall murals, the most recent being at The Standard Bank Art Gallery (Picasso in Africa exhibition) and the mural for Bell Dewar and Hall.

He has participated in numerous group exhibitions - The University of Johannesburg Art Gallery (2005), the Trinity Art Gallery (2006), Gallery on the Square (2008 & 2009) and the Jhb Art Fair (2009) have held host to his work. He held a solo exhibition at the Trinity Art Gallery in 2006 and the Irma Stern Museum in 2009.

His recent commissions were for the JDA (Johannesburg Development Agencies), MTN and the South African Governmental offices.

Phillemon comes from a family of artists. He says art chose him, he did not chose art. His work often depicts trees and his relationships with the environment. When Phillemon was a young boy he would herd goats and cattle and the Tsengelendotwe tree on the exhibition bears a fruit which they would mix with the fresh milk from the herd and drink as a milkshake. He also expresses his relationships with chickens and their interdependency: ‘They provide the time, warmth, food – they help with so many things so they become part of the family’
